This archive is built from named contributor observations, and it gets better every time a reader sends a correction, a photograph, or a memory. There are three ways to help. Every contribution is credited on the page it informs, unless you ask us not to.
Report a correction
Found a closure date, a locomotive number, an allocation, or a photograph caption that looks wrong? Tell us what the page says, what it should say, and the source you are relying on. Corrections are logged publicly at the corrections log.
Contribute a photograph
If you hold a genuine period photograph of a station, a line, or a locomotive as it was worked, we would like to hear from you. You can donate it to the archive, licence it at an agreed rate, or set an embargo. Every image is credited to the photographer and dated.
Submit a memory
Family memories of railway work, of a station before it closed, or of a journey on a line now lifted, are part of the record. Send us your recollection and we will work with you on a short, credited entry.
How to reach us
Structured submission forms are being fitted to this page. In the meantime, please use the address on the contact page, and mark your message as a correction, a photograph, or a memory so it reaches the right place.
Every correction is checked against a source before the page changes, and the change is recorded openly in the corrections log with the date and the contributor’s name. We never silently overwrite a line, station, or locomotive page. Photographs are published only with a clear licence and a credit.
