Gaerwen No. 2 to Amlych Station | 07.12.1964 (P) |
1. There was another station between Lllangefni
and Gaerwen No.2 called Holland Arms. This closed on 04.08.1952. There was also
a branch from here to Red Wharf Bay and Benllech. This branch closed to
passenger traffic on 22.11.1930 and to goods traffic on 03.04.1950. Ceint, Rhyd-y-Saint,
Pentraeth and Llanbedr-Goch were the intimidate stations, with only Pentraeth
having goods facilities. The line opened to Pentraeth on 01.07.1908 and to Red
Wharf Bay and Benllech on 25.05.1909. Passenger and goods facilities closed as
per the dates for the line. Distances were shown in 1937 as 4m 1425 yds from
Holland Arms to Pentraeth and then 1m 1645 yds from there to Amlwch. Max speed
then was 25 mph. It was single line and working was by staff.
2. For some reason these stations are not shown in Clinker’s Register of Closed
Passenger Stations.
3. Associated Octel Sidings – Amlywch closed to all traffic on 07.12.1964.
